Maybe you moved to Florida for work, for family or for a fresh start, and the fresh start came with perimenopause attached. Maybe you're raising young kids far from the people who used to help, while your parents get older a few hours away.

From the outside, your life looks fine. Inside, you're anxious, waking at 3am, snapping at the kids over small things, and there's nowhere in your week to sort any of it out.

Your OB-GYN can treat the hormonal side of perimenopause, and that care matters. If the anxiety and irritability are still there, there may be something underneath worth working on in therapy. Your OB-GYN treats the hormones. I work on what they stirred up.

How online sessions work

Every path starts with a free 15-minute phone call. If we're a fit, our first session is two hours, by secure video. You'll need a private space, a steady connection, and to be in Florida or New Jersey at the time of each session.

A little about me

I'm Edwige Theokas, and I've been a therapist since 2002. I'm EMDRIA Certified and I work with moms in midlife and perimenopause who carry anxiety, stress and old trauma. I'm also a mom of two young kids, in perimenopause myself, so I know this season from both chairs. More about me.

Questions

How can you see Florida clients from New Jersey?

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Jersey and a registered Florida out-of-state telehealth provider. That registration lets me provide therapy by telehealth to people in Florida. I don't have a Florida office and I don't see Florida clients in person.

Do I have to be in Florida during sessions?

You need to be in Florida or New Jersey at the time of each session. If you split the year between the two, we can keep the same appointment all year.

Do you take insurance?

I'm a private-pay practice and don't bill insurance. I can give you a superbill to submit for out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage for an out-of-state provider varies by plan, so check your out-of-network mental health benefit before you start.
